COLOUR Very pale straw. AROMATICS Pear and lemon with hints of apricot kernels. PALATE Sweet clean fruit with appealing lingering nuttiness and zippy cleansing acid on the finish. OAK MATURATION None. AGEING POTENTIAL Destined largely for early consumption, but the patient will find that the fresh sweet fruitiness, carried by the crisp acid, will morph into a lovely honeyed complexity over 5 to 10 years or so.
VINTAGE 2009 An extended warm sunny autumn after the 2008 vintage allowed the vines to accumulate good energy stores for the 2009 season so that, despite erratic weather all winter and through to early summer, solid growth and good crops developed. At last, from mid-summer, the weather moderated and near perfect conditions prevailed through most of the ripening season to well beyond harvest. The early, trying, conditions demanded continuing close attention to vine health throughout the season, but this care was rewarded by generally good yields of outstanding fruit.
