COLOUR Brilliant gold AROMATICS Lifted aroma of raisins and spice, with nutty notes. PALATE Honeyed sweetness with underlying flavours of spiced apple, peach, butterscotch and hazelnut. OAK MATURATION Matured for 4 months in 75% Hungarian and 25% French new oak barriques. AGEING POTENTIAL The balance of sweetness and crisp acid will see the delicate fruit flavours gain breadth and complexity for many years.
VINTAGE 2010 Cold, wet and stormy weather in late winter and early spring resulted in reduced fruit set in some exposed blocks but subsequent mild to warm conditions extending well into summer allowed substantial recovery and development of well filled, heavy bunches. Some disease pressure and sunburn from a couple of mid-summer hot spells, as well as excessive fruit loads in some blocks then necessitated some fruit thinning, bringing overall yields back to normal balanced levels. Warm conditions in the early harvest period led to a short, hectic harvest of the whites, then mild conditions extended the ripening period substantially for the later reds. Overall fruit quality was good, with some exceptional reds of poise and balance resulting from the extended ripening period.
